The Berkeley Marathons
The Berkeley Marathons is a 24 hour endurance trail race held in Berkeley, Gloucestershire on the weekend of 25–27 September 2026. The event is organised as a continuous point to point ultra with repeated laps and significant elevation.
The course is approximately 130 (ish) miles made up of five laps of about 26 miles each. Total ascent is listed as approximately 15,000 ft, with roughly 3,000 ft of climb per lap.
The event uses a 24 hour overall cut off and allows runners to complete between one and five laps within that time. A race briefing takes place on the Friday evening and attendance is required. Event HQ is at Hamfields Leisure Centre and provides toilets, showers, charging points, a bar, camping space and an indoor area with live tracking. HQ opens on the Friday for arrival, registration and camp set up.
Race rules emphasise self-sufficiency. Assistance to runners is only permitted in camp after each lap check in. A race waiver must be completed at registration. The organiser provides GPS tracking and timing, event first aid and marshals, snacks, hot and cold water, a medal described as a zero waste log slice, and a system of stand in crew called Berkeley buddies. Crew members are not compulsory for runners.
Entry information notes 75 purchasable places and a standard entry fee of £96.60, with stated charitable donations from profit. Additional camping is charged at £5 per night. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
