The TOUR Stage Race
The TedDriven Overland Ultra Relay (TOUR) is a three day stage relay held in North Central Washington. It is a team event for up to 8 runners that emphasizes low tech navigation and mixed terrain, including singletrack trails, logging roads, and paved sections. The course is lightly marked and teams navigate with printed maps and elevation guides or PDFs provided before the event.
Each day covers approximately 75 miles divided into 16 legs, with teams exchanging at transitions and regrouping in mountain towns each evening. The stage race format is used to concentrate teams each morning and to provide shared transition points and nightly gatherings.
Daily routes are distinct: Day 1 runs from Plain, WA through alpine forests, mountain trails, and ridgelines. Day 2 runs from Mission Ridge to Cashmere, WA through orchards, vineyards, and foothills. Day 3 runs from Entiat to Fields Point on Lake Chelan across remote terrain and finishes on the lakeshore.
Logistics note that teams supply their own transportation, hydration, and food. Entry is listed at $1,600 per team with discounts for military, non profits, and student teams. Course maps with turn by turn descriptions are issued about one week prior. Medical support includes a certified medical professional on course daily. Portable toilets are provided at designated areas and teams are responsible for packing out waste.
A portion of proceeds supports cancer research and local trail building and advocacy. Included items listed for teams are finisher awards, event photos, a captain s dinner and pre race meeting, and a post race celebration with food and drinks.
