About the race
The Leavenworth Marathon offers a marathon and a half marathon in Leavenworth, Washington, centered on Enchantment Park and the town's Bavarian Village. The half marathon starts and finishes at the TedDriven Event Center in Enchantment Park and follows Front Street and riverfront park trails before joining the marathon route. The marathon course begins near the Alpine Lakes Wilderness Area and opens with about a nine-mile run through Icicle Canyon. Runners proceed along East Leavenworth Road to the Wenatchee River Bridge, cross into the Bavarian Village, follow wooded riverfront parks and trails, then run sections of Icicle Road and Icicle River trails before returning for a second lap that leads back to Enchantment Park.
The route uses a mix of paved roads, dirt roads, sidewalks, paths and trails and passes mountain scenery and riverfront areas where wildlife and salmon may be visible. The event is USATF sanctioned and holds a Boston Qualifier certification. The marathon has a six-hour course limit; the half marathon course is open for four hours and allows walkers. Marathon participants are required to travel to the start by event transport from Leavenworth.
Aid stations appear every 2–3 miles with water and Skratch sports drink; energy gels are placed around miles 10 and 21 for the marathon and around mile 8 for the half. Pets, strollers and tethered equipment are not allowed. Finishers receive custom medals; awards are given to overall and age-group placings and must be claimed on race day.
TedDriven partners with Fred Hutch and directs event proceeds toward cancer research and local causes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
