The event is scheduled for Saturday 17th October 2026 and follows interconnected trails that pass lake shorelines, mountains, rivers, waterfalls, and native New Zealand bush. Parts of the route cross private land and are run without interruptions on those sections.
The event offers multiple distance options to accommodate a range of endurance goals:
- 100 km run
- 100 km team relay
- 70 km run

Event facilities include a central event base at Taupō that serves participants and spectators. The organiser acknowledges land owners, trail builders, and community organisations who support the event. For 2026 the event notes that this will be the final year the glass medal is awarded; the race had been planned to retire in 2025 but continued into 2026.
