Kinloch Offroad Challenge
The Kinloch Offroad Challenge is a trail running event held in Kinloch, Taupō on Saturday 5 September 2026. Events start and finish at the event base on the Kinloch Domain by the Kinloch Community Hall. The event uses the trail network in and around Kinloch and includes a range of course options.
Available courses include:
- Marathon, 42.2 km
- Half Marathon, 21.1 km
- 10km Run or Walk, 10 km
- 5km Run or Walk, 5 km
- Trail Tigers kids dash, Run or Walk
Course routing varies by distance. The marathon route goes past Kawakawa Bay, the half marathon includes a headland loop, and the 5km and 10km courses follow the Whangamata stream for parts of the route. Trails are described as maintained and offer varied terrain.
All finishers receive a three dimensional koru medal. The event has a no disposable cup policy at aid stations; participants are requested to bring a reusable cup, hydration pack, or water bottle. Collapsible silicone cups are available to purchase at the event base for $5.
The Kinloch Offroad Challenge is one of four events in the Roam Free Trail Series and is promoted as a carbon friendly event in partnership with Greening Taupō. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
