Taitonga – Southern Regional Championships 2027
The Taitonga Southern Regional Championships are a three-day orienteering series organised by Peninsula and Plains Orienteers over the Waitangi weekend in the Canterbury High Country. The programme comprises a sprint event in Timaru on Saturday 6 February 2027, a long-distance forest event in Kakahu on Sunday 7 February 2027, and a middle-distance forest event in Tekapo on Monday 8 February 2027.
Entry is pre-entry only via the EnterO entry system. Entries will open in late 2026 and close on Monday 1 February 2027; late entries are accepted from 26 January to 1 February at 150% of the standard fees. Payment is by credit card only through the entry system. Standard fees apply until Monday 25 January; refunds of 90% are available before that date, 75% between 25 January and 1 February, and no refund after 1 February.
Event fees are tiered by age: senior, junior/student, and child under 12, with a family maximum of $250 for two seniors and any number of juniors at the same address. Non-members pay an additional fee per race. SportIdent punching with SI Air+ enabled will be used; SI hire is charged per race. Elite, competitive, and multiple recreational grades are offered for different ages and navigation difficulty. Organisers have not arranged group accommodation.
