Merrell Race Tekapo
Merrell Race Tekapo is a destination trail running event held in the Lake Tekapo area of the Mackenzie Region. The event takes place on 19 September 2026 and uses courses that run beside turquoise lake water and snow capped mountains within the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve.
The weekend includes an event village and course support staffed by marshals. Courses are described as well marked and supported. The 50 km ultramarathon starts under the reserve’s dark skies. The programme includes a surprise on-course Fun Photoshoot and finisher medals for all finishers. The organiser offers a range of services for visitors, and travel options to the start include flying to a nearby airport, shuttle services, or driving into Lake Tekapo.
