Swiss Valley Trail Races
The Swiss Valley Trail Races take place in Peosta, Iowa, within the Swiss Valley Nature Preserve. The event highlights the Dubuque County landscape through a course featuring creek crossings, steep inclines, and rugged terrain. Participants navigate an approximate 5.2 mile loop that includes 875 feet of elevation gain per lap.
Available race distances include:
- 50k (six loops of the course)
- 25k (three loops of the course)
- 5.2 miles (one loop of the course)
The event is part of the No Coast Trail Series. Logistics for participants include free tent camping and shower facilities located at the Swiss Valley Park and Campground. This area also serves as the parking location, with free shuttles provided to transport runners and spectators to and from the start and finish line area at the Swiss Valley Nature Center.
Packet pickup is held on the evening before the race at a local brewing company in downtown Dubuque, or on race morning at the nature center. All proceeds from the event are directed to the Friends of Dubuque County Conservation to support local parks and environmental education initiatives.
