Survivorfest Running Event
Survivorfest Running Event is a multi-day timed race held in Sherwood Park, Alberta from June 11 to June 13, 2027. The event offers solo timed competitions on three standard durations and additional kids races. It is sanctioned by the International Association of Ultrarunners and both course options have held IAU Bronze Label certification since 2024.
Distances and formats
- 24 hour timed race
- 12 hour timed race
- 6 hour timed race
Two course options are available. Loop A is a certified 400 m track course using the inside lanes and is capped at 70 athletes. Loop B is a 1.69 km road and track mix using the outer lanes. Both loops are described as flat and low elevation. Direction changes occur periodically for multi-hour competitors. A fully stocked aid station operates continuously through the 24-hour period, and music is provided for much of the event. A Sunday morning tradition plays the song "Final Countdown."
Survivorfest designates proceeds to the local Saffron Centre to support education and support programs; since 2019 the event has donated over $57,000. Fundraising by participants is optional. Each athlete receives event apparel and finishers earn medals or other items according to the race distance. The event is streamed live on YouTube.
