Sticks n' Stones Trail Race 2026

The event takes place at Christie Lake Conservation Area in Hamilton, Ontario, and is sanctioned by Athletics Ontario. All distances run on a 5.3 km loop around the lake. The trail surface is mainly dirt, non-technical, and the route is described as rolling and runnable.

Available distances:

  • 5 km one loop (5.3 km actual)
  • 10 km two loops (10.6 km actual)
  • 26.5 km five loops (26.5 km actual)
  • 53 km SOLO ten loops (53 km actual)
  • 53 km RELAY ten loops, teams up to five runners

There are two aid stations per loop, located at the start/finish and at the midpoint. Aid stations provide water, electrolyte drinks, pop, fruit, sweet and salty snacks, and standard ultra fare such as PB & J. Events are cup less so runners must bring a collapsible cup or bottle. Local nutrition company THN Labs will provide gels in race kits and at aid stations; the gels list maple syrup, tahini, sea salt, and rowanberry extract as ingredients.

Participants in certain distances receive a toque; SOLO 53 km participants receive a hoodie. Hoodies are available for purchase for other categories at registration for a stated fee. Parking is included in the registration fee while spectators pay park entry. Finishers receive medals; top three solo finishers and top relay teams by category receive awards. Professional timing will record results and photos will be taken. Pacers are not permitted except that participants over age 65 may have a pacer. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
