About the race
Step Out for Cancer is a fundraising run held at Royal Randwick Racecourse with a festival finish at the Theatre of the Horse. The event uses a special sealed 1 km circuit alongside the racetrack and offers timed and looped options that record laps for individuals and teams. Medical support, marked toilets, water stations and cloak room facilities are available on site.
Entertainment, DJs, family-friendly activities and food and drink options are provided at the finish festival. Participants can choose from multiple distances and a new two-hour Challenge Run that can be entered solo or as a team. Teams in the Challenge Run may aim for a collective distance or run relay-style; lap counts and timings are calculated at the end of the timed period. The course is suitable for jogging or walking as well as running, and runners are asked to keep left and run in single file unless overtaking to reduce congestion.
The surface is sealed; the route follows the access path beside the racecourse rather than the grass. Ticket categories and standard pricing are listed for family, adult and child entries, and early bird discounts are offered for a limited period. Fundraising minimums apply for individual and team entries. The event supports the Minderoo Children’s Comprehensive Cancer Centre and shares participant stories that illustrate the impact of research funding.
