Spring Fling - Houston
The Spring Fling - Houston is a running event presented by the Bigfoot Running Company. The event takes place at Cullen Park and features a variety of distances to accommodate different participants. The race atmosphere includes a live DJ, name announcements at the finish line, and the presence of a mascot.
Participants can choose from several on-site distances:
- Kids Dash: A 50-meter non-timed run for children aged 10 and under.
- 1 Mile Run: A non-chip-timed distance for various experience levels.
- 5K Run: A chip-timed race measuring 3.11 miles.
- 10K Run: A chip-timed race measuring 6.22 miles.
- Virtual Run: A remote option covering a distance of 13.1 miles.
The course consists of mixed surfaces, including pavement, crushed granite, and dirt paths. As the event is held in a public park, the route remains open to other park users such as walkers and strollers.
The event includes a formal recognition ceremony with trophies for the first overall male and female finishers in the timed races, as well as recognition pins for masters participants aged 40 and over. Age group awards are also provided for the 5K and 10K distances. Participants receive a finisher medal and a t-shirt, though shirt availability is only guaranteed for those registered at least 10 days before the event.
