Southern Tier Cross Country Series
The Southern Tier Cross Country Series is a team based series of cross country races in the Greater Binghamton area. Events are held at venues around Broome County and nearby locations, with the series running in 2026 from early September through November. The series format requires team registration for series scoring. A team must include at least five runners to be scored. Participants who do not have a team may select an I Need A Team option for organizer assistance. Series registration is listed at $65 and individual race registration fees are listed at $25 for single race entry. Series registration includes every race in the series, post race refreshments including coffee, bagels and water, an exclusive shirt, a reusable race bib for the season, and opportunities to earn pie points.
Courses are run on natural terrain such as grass, dirt trails, mud, hills and wooded single track, with typical course lengths between 3 and 4 miles. Meet scoring uses conventional cross country scoring where the finishing places of top five scorers on a team combine to produce a team score; divisions are split into men's, women's and mixed categories. Seasonal scores combine meet results, pie points and team attendance. The series also gives a weekly positive vibes award and a loyalty and faithfulness award with details to be announced.
