Southern Fried 50/50
The Southern Fried 50/50 is an urban trail and street run held in Columbus, Georgia, and Phenix City, Alabama. The event features a route that takes participants along the Dragonfly Trail and the RiverWalk areas of both cities, offering views of the Chattahoochee River, urban whitewater sections, and the greenery of Oxbow Meadows.
Participants can choose from three distinct race distances:
- 50 Miles
- 50K
- 25K
The race starts and finishes at Scofflaw Brewing in Columbus, which also serves as the location for parking and packet pickup. The event is designed with an intimate field size, limited to a total of 100 runners. To accommodate various paces, the 50K distance has a 10-hour cutoff, while the 50-mile race has a 14-hour cutoff.
The course includes aid stations featuring specific regional food and drink, such as fried chicken, Georgia-grown watermelons, and sweet tea. Because the event takes place in August, runners are advised to prepare for high temperatures and maintain hydration throughout the race.
