South Downs Trail Run
The South Downs Trail Run starts and finishes at Goodwood Racecourse in Chichester, West Sussex, and runs into the South Downs National Park. The route offers views across the South Downs and, on a clear day, glimpses of the North Downs, Chichester Harbour and the Isle of Wight.
The course combines forest fire roads, bridleways and single-track trails. It passes the edge of Levin Down, includes a stretch of the South Downs Way and descends into East Dean before a final climb back to Goodwood. The event is fully signed using pink arrows and pink tape; hazards and road junctions are marked with caution signs.
Three distance options are available:
- 21.3 km Half Marathon route; elevation gain +328 m
- 16.5 km Medium route; elevation gain +309 m
- 12 km Short route; elevation gain +199 m
Categories include canicross entries. The event uses chip timing. Support on course includes water stations, first aid teams and marshals. Finishers receive a metal medal, a finisher goodie, a drink and a personalised certificate. The organiser operates a plastic free policy so participants are asked to bring a reusable cup or bottle. Spectators are welcome and the route is photographed during the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
