Soil Mates Backyard Ultra on February 13, 2027 in Thomaston, GA is a Last One Standing backyard ultra with two race options and limited fields. The event uses a 4.167-mile loop (a Yard) with roughly 350 feet of elevation gain through pastures and forest single-track.
Race entries and format:
- Backyard Ultra – 4.167 miles per lap, repeated hourly.
- One Yard – 4.167 miles single lap.
The Backyard Ultra has a 100-runner limit; the One Yard option is limited to 50 runners. Early-bird pricing and registration windows are noted by the organizer. All starters receive a short-sleeve participation shirt if registered by January 27, 2027; refunds are not offered.
Course and logistics: the start/finish is in a large open pasture with parking and crew set-up space. Porta-potties will be near the starting corral. About 60% of the course runs through pastures on a five-foot path marked by guide ropes and arrows; 40% is single-track trail with roots and rocks. Once inside the starting pasture, the course contains no pavement until departure. Free camping the night before is allowed in the starting pasture.
Race rules: each Yard must be completed within the allotted hour to count; except for restroom breaks, competitors may not leave the course during a Yard and may not receive personal aid while a Yard is active. The winner is the last runner to complete a Yard alone. Performances are eligible for affiliated Backyard event recognition and potential national team consideration.
