About the race
Smurf's Backyard Ultra takes place at the Smithfield Mountain Bike Park trail head in Smithfield, Cairns, Far North Queensland, Australia. The core format is repeated laps of a 6.7 km course: runners complete one lap on the hour, every hour, and continue until they cannot complete the next lap.
The event offers three entry options. The Backyard Ultra follows the full on-the-hour format. The Backyard Mini permits up to six laps of the same 6.7 km loop. The BYU Taster is a single 6.7 km lap for participants who want to sample the course and event atmosphere without committing to multiple laps.
Registration fees are shown for each option and vary by registration period. Published fees for the Backyard Ultra include A$100, A$140, and A$170 for different entry windows. Backyard Mini fees are listed as A$50, A$75, and A$100. BYU Taster fees are listed as A$20, A$30, and A$40.
