About the race
The Smoky Mountain Relay is a team relay covering 208 miles from Brevard to Bryson City, North Carolina. The event shown for April 30 to May 1, 2027 uses a long course routed west of Asheville through parts of Western North Carolina.
Teams of 6, 9, or 12 people split the route into 36 legs. The course begins at the Pisgah Ranger Station Visitor Center just outside Brevard and finishes at the Nantahala Outdoor Center in Bryson City.
The route passes through the Pisgah National Forest and the Nantahala National Forest, and includes two exchanges on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Terrain on the course includes trail sections, gravel and dirt forest service roads, and paved roadways. Some road sections are run at night.
Registration is organized with seasonal pricing windows listed for summer, fall, winter, and spring, and new team registration closes on April 1, 2027.
