Skeetawk Scramble - Palmer, Alaska
The Skeetawk Scramble is a three day mountain running event held at Skeetawk Ski Area in the Hatcher Pass Recreation Area near Palmer, Alaska. The 2026 race weekend is scheduled for August 28 to 30 and is organized by Black Wolf Endurance.
The weekend originally included a youth uphill, a vertical kilometer (VK), a 12K mountain loop, and a 37K Skeetawk Skyline Scramble, one of four official US Skyrunning races. An update dated July 18, 2026 states that the VK, the 12K, and the youth uphill have been cancelled for 2026 due to low registration. The 37K Skeetawk Skyline Scramble will still occur as planned on Sunday, August 30. Runners were able to choose one, two, or all three events when the full series was offered.
The 37K course is described as highly technical and involves steep climbs, exposed ridges, and mixed surfaces including rocky slabs and silt packed mud single track. The route starts and finishes at Skeetawk Ski Area, climbs Frostbite Ridge to Government Peak, traverses multiple ridges and peaks, and includes long descents toward Hatcher Pass Lodge and Gold Cord Lake before returning to Skeetawk. The organizer notes this course is appropriate only for runners experienced in steep mountain terrain. Age requirement for the 37K is 17 and older.
