SilverBackTrails Othnesbery’s Revenge Half Marathon
SilverBackTrails Othnesbery’s Revenge is a trail half marathon held in the North York Moors National Park. The route is circa 13.1 miles and passes along forest tracks, over heather clad moorland, and includes ascents and descents on Roseberry Topping, also known as Othnesbery and Odins Seat. The event has a five hour cut off and places are limited to 50 runners.
All finishers receive a bespoke medal that features a prominent part of the route; a new medal design is planned for 2027. There is a control point during the race with water, fizzy drinks and snacks, and the same provision is available at the finish. Marshals and some flags will aid navigation; entrants are sent a GPX file and a master route map is available at registration.
Entries open 19 August 2026 and close 10 August 2027. The minimum age on the day is 17. Entry fee is £23 and there are no entries on the day. Transfers are permitted up to one week before the event; refunds are not given. An optional event specific technical T shirt is available to purchase for £18 via the club shop.
Participants must carry mandatory kit including a waterproof jacket with taped seams unless Paramo, hat or buff or gloves, an emergency bivvy bag, a charged mobile phone ideally with OS maps and what3words, at least 500 ml fluid and 120 g emergency food, a working compass, and OS Explorer 26 or Harvey’s North Yorkshire Moors map. There may be spot checks and entrants without required equipment can be withdrawn. Parking is in the car park below Roseberry Topping where registration takes place and participants are responsible for parking charges.
