Sid Valley Ring Half Marathon
The Sid Valley Ring Half Marathon follows the newly created Sid Valley Ring walking route from Sidmouth seafront. The route was created jointly by Sidmouth Town Council and the Sid Vale Association. A donation from each entry fee will go towards maintenance of the trail.
The route begins with an uphill section and travels along quiet country lanes, footpaths and back lanes. It climbs to a height of 236 m before descending into the village of Sidbury, then passes the hamlet of Harcombe, known as the "Valley of Hares". A steep climb leads to Dunscombe cliffs and the coast path with views across Lyme Bay towards Portland and Berry Head. The course makes a short inland section through Salcombe Regis, a woodland section and returns to the coast path for a final downhill into Sidmouth. The event notes mud and plenty of hills. The event includes a fully marked course, two well stocked aid stations, first aid cover and a Sid Valley Ring solid oak coaster for finishers. The event is open to runners and walkers and is scheduled for Sunday 7 March 2027 with entries opening soon. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
