SRT - Shawangunk Ridge Trail Run
The Shawangunk Ridge Trail Run takes place in Rosendale, New York, along the full length of the Shawangunk Ridge. The underlying Shawangunk Ridge Trail is a 70 mile route that runs from High Point State Park in New Jersey to the town of Rosendale, ending just beyond a restored railroad trestle 140 feet above the Rondout Creek. The route passes rolling hills, wetlands, dwarf pine barrens, sky lakes, waterfalls, and white conglomerate cliffs formed nearly three hundred million years ago. From high points the ridge provides long-range views that can cover five states.
The event is organized in three divisions:
- 70 Mile
- 30 Mile
- Half Marathon
The event format is largely unsupported. Participants must carry their own food and water purification means. The trail is well blazed but will have no supplemental markings, and some sections include rocky footing, squeezes, or scrambles. No pacers, no support crew, no drop bags, and no resupply caches are permitted; participants are expected to carry out all waste.
Event parking is provided in Rosendale only; runners are expected to use provided shuttle services unless they are dropped off at start locations. The event is managed by Run Wild, Inc., a not for profit that supports land conservation.
