Sharlie Shuffle Trail Run
The Sharlie Shuffle is a timed loop trail event held at Ponderosa State Park in McCall, Idaho. The event offers 6-hour and 12-hour timed options and functions as a fundraiser with proceeds directed to Ponderosa State Park trails and other local trail projects.
The course is a roughly 4.79 mile loop with about 640 feet of gain per loop. Terrain on each loop is varied and includes rolling and rocky sections, flat segments, stairs, boardwalks, mostly single-track with some double-track and short pavement, and views of Payette Lake. A shorter 2.18 mile loop is available for the final two hours.
Organizers describe the event as low-impact and locally supported: aid and prizes often come from McCall area businesses, paper products are not used on race day, and the event aims to produce less than one bag of trash. The course layout is kept low-key and is not published in advance; maps and elevation profiles are not provided on the event page. Race-day logistics reflect an old-school approach, with handmade bibs and medals and lap counts tracked with star stickers.
Early June mountain weather is variable; temperatures can be cold in mornings and evenings and occasional precipitation or brief snow is possible. Campgrounds at Ponderosa State Park are open and reservable, and overnight parking or car-camping outside the campground is not permitted.
