Krueger Family Shamrock Shuffle Snowshoe & Run - Vail
The Krueger Family Shamrock Shuffle Snowshoe & Run is planned for March 20, 2027 at the Vail Nordic Center in Vail. The event is presented by the Krueger Family and is the 16th annual running of this winter race.
The event includes two main race formats: snowshoe and running (running may be with or without traction devices). There is also a free kids fun run on a 100 yard course with obstacles.
Distances
- 4K (3.9K / 2.3 miles), +/-108' elevation, aid station at mile 1.15
- 8K (8K / 5 miles), +/-233' elevation, aid stations at miles 2.1 and 3.8
Courses run on the Vail Nordic Center groomed trails, with a short ungroomed descent through aspen trees that may cause post-holing depending on snow conditions. The race starts just east of the Vail Nordic Center and finishes next to the facility. The Vail Nordic Center normally requires a trail pass for general use; a pass is not required to participate in this event.
On-course amenities include water and Skratch Labs hydration at aid stations, restrooms, a gear drop and a warming area at the Nordic Center. Racer parking is available at the Vail Nordic Center. After the races, participants and spectators gather in the Gore Range Room where awards and raffle prizes are distributed; beer is available for those over 21 and burritos are offered by the event food provider.
Awards recognize the top three finishers by category, age and gender. Race categories include 4K and 8K in both snowshoe and running, with age groups 19 and under, 20–39, 40–59, and 60 plus. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
