Shades of Death 10 Miler
The Shades of Death 10 Miler is a 10 mile loop backroad run and hike held in Avella, Pennsylvania on October 17, 2026. The course starts and finishes at the Polar Star Club, located at 849 Meadowcroft Rd., Avella, PA 15312, United States.
The route follows multiple back roads and trails with hills and offers views of farms and forests, including a portion on Shades of Death Road. The course includes over 1200 feet of ascent and 1200 feet of descent. There is a four hour cutoff to complete the course. Three official aid stations are located near miles 3, 6 and 8.
Registration opens July 5, 2026 and closes October 16, 2026; the registration fee is $60.00. Registrations completed by September 30, 2026 are guaranteed a race t-shirt and runner swag. A meal is included for racers; drinks and live music are scheduled after the event. All donations and profits from the event will benefit area volunteer fire departments and other local charities.
