Selkirk Slacker 12hr Ultra Trail Run & Relay
The Selkirk Slacker is a timed trail event in Golden, BC on May 15, 2027, held on an approximately 6.2 km loop that can be walked or run. The loop for 2027 runs in the opposite direction from previous years and includes about 146 m of ascent and 152 m of descent per lap. Participants may complete as many laps as they choose during their selected time period.
Event formats include:
- 12 hour Solo
- 12 hour relay teams, up to 5 people
- 8 hour Solo or Team
The Start/Finish and transition area are at Keith King Memorial Park, where the timing tent, aid station, team area, parking and washroom facilities are located. There are no aid stations on the course; water, electrolytes and food are provided at the Start/Finish so runners are encouraged to be self contained on course. Volunteers assist with lap tracking and participants must check in at the volunteer table after each lap.
Safety and rules noted: no dogs on course, runners must remain on the established course, crews may assist only at the Start/Finish area, and there are no bib transfers, bandits, pacers or deferrals. The event runs in all weather; cancellation is only for force majeure and there are no refunds or credits in that case.
Camping is available at the Golden Municipal Campground near the Start/Finish with a discounted rate arranged for participants. Children must be registered and supervised; participants under 13 must run with a parent or supervising adult and one lap counts for those under 13. Prizes and category recognitions are awarded after the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
