Courses run along the Embarcadero promenade from the USS Midway area south to Embarcadero Marina Park North, passing Tuna Harbor, public art and naval memorials, and winding through Seaport Village cobblestone paths and gardens. Courses finish among the open lawns and bay views at Embarcadero Marina Park North.
The event uses the sprint orienteering format with three course levels: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. All courses are timed and split by level. Participants choose one of two one-hour start windows and select their course. The time limit for completing a course is one hour; competitors must check in at headquarters after finishing so organizers can confirm safety.
Electronic punching is used for scoring; controls are AIR+ enabled. Participants must bring, rent, or purchase an e-punch; rental electronic punches will be available for a fee. Maps are provided at check-in and use a scale of 1:3000 with 2.5 m contours. An introductory clinic will be offered before the first start window and may be repeated before the second window.
Pre-registration is required. Entry is limited to 100 participants total, with 50 slots allocated per start window. Fees are listed for adults and juniors, and an early bird discount applies. Headquarters is likely at Ruocco Park; there is ample paid parking in the area. Volunteers may receive credit toward future race registration.
