About the race

The Sea 2 Sky Challenge is a multisport event held in Christchurch, New Zealand, that offers a range of triathlon, duathlon, trail-run and multisport formats for different ages and abilities. The full challenge combines an ocean swim, a hilly bike ride along Summit Road, and a run that uses Godley Head and Taylors Mistake tracks. Duathletes follow the same course but substitute the swim with a flat run.

A separate Run Challenge is a 16 km trail loop that climbs to Summit Road via the Captain Thomas Track, follows the Crater Rim Track with views over Lyttelton Harbour, and then joins the Godley Head and Taylors Mistake sections.

Shorter formats include Try a Tri/Try a Duathlon options and a junior race for younger athletes. A kids aquathon for ages 5–9 consists of a swim or wade in the sea followed by about a 1 km run. Most events can be entered individually or completed as part of a team; the kids aquathon is the only event noted as an exception.
