Aotearoa Ultra Marathon : event details
The Aotearoa Ultra Marathon is held on Banks Peninsula and finishes at Halswell Quarry in Christchurch. The event starts at Little River Domain and follows routes that include Port Levy, Pigeon Bay and Mt Herbert, with sections on Summit Road, Kennedy's Bush Track and Kennedy's Bush Road.
There are three event options:
- 101 km with 4,055 m of elevation, Little River to Halswell Quarry, solo or team of two
- 53 km with 2,278 m of elevation, Pigeon Bay to Halswell Quarry, solo or team of two
- 15 km with 484 m of elevation, Gebbies Pass to Halswell Quarry, solo
The 101 km course passes Western Valley Road, Port Levy and Pigeon Bay, includes climbs to the Summit Road, returns toward Port Levy, ascends Mt Herbert, and proceeds into Christchurch via Summit Road and Kennedy's Bush sections. The route traverses terrain shaped by early volcanic activity and offers views across Akaroa and Lyttelton Harbours.
