Scafell Pike Trail Marathon

The Scafell Pike Trail Marathon is a trail race around Scafell Pike and through Borrowdale, based in Keswick, Cumbria. The course covers 44 kilometres on hilly mountain trails and follows a single-lap route. The route is marked from the start to Seathwaite; the mountain section between Seathwaite, Styhead, Scafell Pike, Esk Hause, Styhead and Seathwaite is unmarked and follows main trails, so navigation ability is essential. Navigational devices are permitted and a GPX route file will be available to download.

Participants must be prepared for mountain terrain and the weather conditions typical for the time of year. Competitors are advised to wear suitable clothing and footwear and to carry sufficient personal nutrition and drinks for the full route. A bespoke medal is provided for every competitor and event photographs will be available to download. Prizes are awarded to the first three finishers in the male and female categories and to first place in each age group category.

The event has an entry limit of 100 places and is licensed by the Trail Running Association; it is held under UK Athletics rules. Entry fees listed include race fees, card charges and administration: affiliated entry £52.00 and unaffiliated entry £54.00. Race HQ, registration and the finish are at Crow Park, Lake Road, Keswick, CA12 5DJ. Facilities on site include water, toilets and baggage storage; there are no distance markers, changing facilities or showers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
