About the race
Saturnalia is a seasonal trail race held at Squaxin Park in Olympia, WA on 12 December 2026. The event is a roughly 10K loop that begins and ends at the Reeves Middle School track and uses much of the park’s upper and lower trail loops, including the Ellis Cove trail. The route offers wooded trail running and views of Puget Sound and the state Capitol above downtown Olympia.
The race is presented as a year-end event and does not use traditional podiums; all finishers receive an award and a finisher medal. Organizers track times but celebrate every finisher from first to last. There is no enforced cutoff and participants are welcome to walk the course.
On-course and finish amenities include a fully stocked aid station with water, oranges, hot beverages, and holiday treats. Race services list safety and medical support, finish line high fives, a finisher gift, and a limited edition race sticker. For each finisher a tree is planted with One Tree Planted.
The event operates as a cupless, low-waste event; participants are asked to bring a collapsible cup or to use one available at packet pickup. Restrooms are available at the Reeves gym. Parking is provided at Reeves Middle School and the park remains open to other trail users during the race, so participants should share the trail and follow posted event rules.
