Salem 50k
The Salem 50k takes place on December 6, 2026 at Bush's Pasture Park in Salem, Oregon. The event is organized by Crusty Cap and offers multiple looped-distance races on a park course.
The route is a 3.33 km loop entirely inside the park, roughly half asphalt and half gravel or dirt. Each loop has about 120 feet of elevation gain and includes two notable climbs. The start and finish are at the bottom of the soap box derby hill off Mission Street.
Distances
- 50k - 15 loops
- 30k - 9 loops
- 10k - 3 loops
An aid station is located just beyond the start and finish area, providing water, Tailwind, PB&J, fruit, sweet and salty snacks, and some limited hot food. Runners must bring their own cup or bottle; the organizers can store a personal cup or bottle at the aid station. For the 30k and 50k distances, runners are advised not to depend solely on the provided solid food, though water and Tailwind will be available.
The event emphasizes a simple, experience-focused format with no big sponsors, medals, or age-group awards. Every participant receives a Salem 50k race cap made by the organizers. Weather in December can vary widely; participants are advised to prepare for cold, wind, and rain. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
