Carsington Water Half Marathon & 10k - October 2027
Carsington Water hosts two trail races around the reservoir on a marked, undulating route with countryside views and autumn colour. The course uses trail flags, tags, A5 arrows and signage, and marshals are positioned at major junctions. The half marathon route records around 200 m of elevation gain and a GPX file is provided so participants can check the route and self-navigate if needed.
Entry includes a unique themed medal, free race photos, chip-timed results, post-race goodies and a bag drop. Water is provided at the 5 km point of the 10k, at miles 3, 6 and 9 on the half marathon, and at the finish. Both races finish in the main event village.
Location and logistics are centred on Carsington Water Visitor Centre, Big Lane, Upper Town, Ashbourne DE6 1ST. The 10k start and registration are at Millfields Car Park; the main event village, registration for the half marathon and the finish are at the visitor centre. The 10k start is about 1.3 miles, roughly a 25 minute walk, from the main event village. Paid parking is available with number plate recognition; visitor centre and Millfields car parks have short and full day tariffs.
Minimum ages are 17 for the half marathon and 15 for the 10k. The terrain is not suitable for wheelchairs or prams. Dogs are allowed but the terrain should be considered. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
