The courses follow undulating trail paths around the reservoir and through Derbyshire countryside, including waterside stretches. The half marathon has an elevation gain of about 200 m. Routes are marked with trail flags, A5 arrows and signage, and marshals will staff major junctions. Organisers provide a GPX file so participants can check the route and self-navigate if needed. The route may be affected by weather, walkers or wildlife.
Entries include a themed medal, free race photos, chip-timed results and post-race goodies. Entry options and prices listed by the organiser include a 10k entry at £30 (+5% booking fee), a half marathon entry at £34 (+5% booking fee), and a RunThrough Foundation place at £80 (+5% booking fee).
Practical information: the 10k start and registration are at Millfields Car Park, with the finish for both races in the main event village at Carsington Water. The finish is approximately 1.3 miles from the 10k start. Paid parking is available using number plate recognition; Visitor Centre charges are £3 for two hours or £5 for the day, Millfields charges are £2.50 for two hours or £4 for the day. There is a secure baggage marquee and toilets behind the visitor centre and at Millfields Car Park. Water is supplied at the 5k point for the 10k and at miles 3, 6 and 9 on the half marathon, with water and post-race goodies at the finish. Minimum ages are 17 for the half marathon and 15 for the 10k. The terrain is not suitable for wheelchairs or prams; dogs are allowed but the terrain should be considered before bringing them.
