Running Up for Air | Bozeman
Participants run or hike repeated laps up and down Drinking Horse Mountain on the Drinking Horse Trail in Bozeman, MT. The event offers time-based formats so competitors count laps completed inside their chosen duration.
- 12 hour
- 6 hour
- 3 hour
Each registration creates a fundraising page on the participant's behalf. Runners are encouraged to collect pledges from friends and family for each lap completed. All proceeds support the Wildland Firefighter Foundation to assist wildland firefighter families and those who have been killed or injured while protecting lands, forests, homes, and communities.
Safety policies address winter mountain conditions. Organizers reserve the right to cancel, delay the start, or shorten the event if conditions are dangerous for volunteers or participants. Possible reasons include extremely low temperatures, windchill below -10, impaired visibility from snow, or unsafe course conditions.
Mandatory equipment includes traction devices or shoe spikes such as Kahtoola Microspikes or Exospikes. Participants in the 12 hour format are required to carry a headlamp for the initial portion of the event. Organizers emphasize a minimal footprint on the trails and aim to support air quality charities through participant fundraising. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
