City of Rockmart - "Running for a Paws" 5K

This is the sixth annual City of Rockmart Running for a Paws 5K held in Downtown Rockmart, Georgia on October 10, 2026. The 5K course uses portions of downtown surface streets and the Silver Comet Trail in an out-and-back layout, with the turnaround located just past the Vinson Mountain Trailhead. The starting line is at the intersection of Slate Street and Cherry Street facing the old City Hall, and the finish is along the Silver Comet Trail adjacent to Euharlee Creek next to Veterans Plaza across from Seaborn Jones Park.

Proceeds from the event benefit the City of Rockmart Police Department K9 Fund. Registration fees are listed as $30 for pre-race registration and $40 for race day registration, and pre-registration has a deadline to guarantee T-shirt size and the reduced fee. A ghost runner option is available for registrants who cannot attend in person; ghost runners may still contribute and receive a race T-shirt.

Pre-registration packet pickup is scheduled for Friday, October 9 at Rockmart Police Department Headquarters. Awards will be presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, top masters male and female, and top male and female in multiple age categories including 10-Under through 70 and over. The event proceeds regardless of weather. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
