Run with the Burros
Run with the Burros is a Pack Burro Race and trail run held on April 10, 2027 in Ridgecrest, California. The event uses Cerro Coso Community College for the start and finish, and the course features trails with hills, historic mines, and views of the Sierra Nevada and the Mojave Desert. The event moved 12 miles east to Ridgecrest after the previous site was sold, and the new venue provides on-site water, electricity, shade, and restrooms.
Distances offered include:
- 26.2 miles trail marathon
- 18 miles
- 10 miles
- 5 miles introductory distance
All distances are open to burro and runner teams as well as runners without burros competing in separate categories on the same course. Start order is slightly staggered with burros starting first. Burro camping is available at the start/finish area on Friday and Saturday with water, corral pens, and possibly showers; this camping is for burros and their handlers only. A Days Inn discounted hotel rate has been arranged for participants; last year’s rate was $90.17 with no additional fees. Registration for the event closes April 6, 2027. Proceeds benefit California Breakfast Burritos and Forever Home Donkey Rescue & Sanctuary, both charitable volunteer organizations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
