The Over The Hill Track Club High Desert race weekend in Ridgecrest, California takes place at Cerro Coso Community College. The event is organized by the Over The Hill Track Club, a 501(c)(3) club founded in 1973 that first ran the High Desert Ultra in 1986. Proceeds support local organizations and teams.

The 30K and 50K use loop courses on rolling desert terrain on dirt roads with elevation between about 2400 ft and 3500 ft. Temperatures on race day can vary widely, so participants should plan for variable conditions. Nine aid stations are placed along the courses and will be stocked with water, Skratch, cookies, and similar snacks; participants are advised to carry a water bottle between aid stations. Ibuprofen is not provided.
All races start and finish at the Cerro Coso Community College gym parking lot. Bathrooms and showers are available in the gym on race day. A grassy area with shade trees and picnic tables is located across the road.
Awards and amenities include handmade ceramic medals for all finishers, overall and age group awards for the 30K and 50K, a Military Division award, and repeat-finish awards such as a sweatshirt or Patagonia pullover for long term participants. Shirts are long sleeve technical shirts in unisex or ladies cut and are guaranteed for paid entries received by November 1, 2026.
Rules note minimum ages for entry, no pets in the start or on course, and that fees are non refundable and non transferable. Camping is not permitted on college property; camping options exist on nearby BLM land. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
