About the race
The 1st annual Run the River 5K takes place in Canton, North Carolina at 1291 Old River Rd. The event comprises a trail 5K and a separate 1 Mile Kids Fun Run.
The 5K is described as a fairly easy trail run. The surface is mostly grass with some gravel and a very short paved section. For this area the course is mostly level and runs through surrounding hill and countryside, providing an autumn backdrop.

The event is open to all abilities. Proceeds benefit Pisgah High School Cross Country. Entries are limited and prices will increase periodically before race day. Registration for the 5K carries a fee of $35. The Kids 1 Mile Fun Run registers on the day of the event for a $5 cash only fee; a parent may run alongside and finishers receive a ribbon at the finish line.
