Run Silchester

Run Silchester is an annual running event held in the village of Silchester and organised by the Run Silchester committee on behalf of the Silchester Sports Pavilion Charity. The event starts on the Silchester playing field and finishes at the Silchester Sports Pavilion. The route passes the English Heritage Roman wall that enclosed the former town of Calleva Atrebatum, goes past the 12th century St Mary-the-Virgin church, and continues through trails in ancient natural woodland.

The event offers three trail distances:

  • Silchester Fun Run: 2.5 Mile trail run
  • Silchester 5: 5 Mile trail run
  • Silchester 7: 7 Mile trail run

There are water stations at 1.8 miles for all races and at 4.8 miles for the 7 Mile race, with additional water available at the finish. Chip timing records finishing times and results are published online after the event. New medals are provided to finishers and trophies are awarded across age and gender categories for each race. Photographers attend the public event and images may be published; requests for removal will be acted upon.

The event includes additional activities on the playing field such as food stalls, a bar, a children’s fun zone, music and the Silchester Village Market. Managed car parking will be in operation. Run Silchester supports the Tadley Community Food Pantry with an on-site collection point and offers an optional field maintenance contribution on registration. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
