Run for the Riverfront 5K

Run for the Riverfront 5K takes place on November 7, 2026 at Riverside Park, 20 Leibert Road, Hartford, CT. The event is a fundraiser for Riverfront Recapture’s Community Rowing Program and offers multiple ways to participate on land and water.

The Community Rowing Program serves more than 650 people annually, including pre teens through retirees, with close to 300 youth in its annual programs. The program provides classes for beginning, intermediate, and experienced rowers, field teams for racing, runs an adaptive program in partnership with TrinityHealth New England for people with physical disabilities and visual impairments, and offers free rowing to Hartford and East Hartford public school students. Participants come from over 47 neighboring cities and towns to row on the Connecticut River.

Event options include:

  • 5K Run: begins and ends at the boathouse in Riverside Park; most of the course is on dirt and grassy trails
  • 5K Row: for proficient single scullers only; club singles must be reserved
  • 5K Erg: limited erg stations available with registration

All net proceeds go directly toward the rowing program. Participants may solicit donations and top fundraisers receive prizes. Monetary prizes are awarded to the top three finishers and medals are awarded in specified overall and age categories for run, erg, row, and fundraising. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
