10th Run A Way Dryland Derby
The event is a three-day dryland mushing competition held October 9–11, 2026 at Christiansen Field Aerodrome in De Winton, Alberta. The weekend is AAHDS sanctioned and marks the 10th edition of the Run A Way Dryland Derby.
Distances offered:
- 4.8 km standard
- 2.7 km sprint
Competitive classes run over the standard distance and include 4-dog rig, 1- and 2-dog scooter, 1- and 2-dog bike, and canicross. Developmental (non-competitive) classes are held Friday and Saturday over the sprint distance and include 1- and 2-dog scooter, 1- and 2-dog bike, canicross, and a Friday-only developmental 4-dog rig. One-day entries are available for developmental classes; rig developmental is Friday only.
Entries are seeded and combined times determine placement for two-day competitive classes. A break will occur mid-competition (approximately 15 minutes) as determined by timers and hosts. Drivers meetings are mandatory on competition days. Helmets are mandatory for all wheeled classes; canicross is the exception. Dogs must be leashed, tethered, crated, penned, or in harness at all times; no loose running on the property. The trail map is unchanged from recent years. AAHDS members receive a 10% discount on entries; a discount code is required. Dry camping is available on site with no hookups; site cleanup is required.
