CRR Weaselhead X/C Race
The CRR Weaselhead X/C Race is an established cross-country event held in Calgary, taking place within South Glenmore Park and the Weaselhead Flats. As part of the Grand Prix Series, the event offers a variety of distances to accommodate different participants:
- 8 km main race
- 4 km main race
- 0.5 km Kids Fun Run
The course traverses the south shore of the Glenmore Reservoir and enters the Weaselhead Flats, with sections following the Jackrabbit Trail. The terrain consists of a mix of pathways, forest trails, and single-track or double-track segments. Due to the winter timing, participants can expect surfaces composed of snow, mud, and ice. The use of spikes or cleats is strongly recommended for better traction on the winter landscape.
The start and finish area is located near the Variety Spray Park parking lot in South Glenmore Park. Following the event, a post-race social is held at the Palliser-Bayview-Pumphill Community Association hall. This gathering includes hot soup, rolls, and beverages. Participants are encouraged to bring their own reusable bowls, mugs, and spoons to support waste reduction efforts.
Registration is conducted through a combination of online pre-registration and on-site payment. Entry fees vary for general participants, club members, and students, while children aged 12 and under may participate for free. The event typically proceeds unless temperatures drop below -20°C.
