Event Overview

The Ruffner Mountain Fall Classic takes place on November 14, 2026, at the Ruffner Mountain Nature Preserve in Irondale, Alabama. The event base is located at the Irondale Ball Fields and offers participants three distinct distances through the natural terrain of the preserve.

Course Details

The race utilizes a 6.4 mile loop format. Participants select their distance based on the number of completed laps:

  • 6 Miler: 1 loop with 1,450 feet of elevation gain.
  • Half Marathon: 2 loops with 2,900 feet of elevation gain.
  • Full Marathon: 4 loops with 5,800 feet of elevation gain.

Support and Logistics

Two aid stations are positioned along the course to support runners. The first station is located at the Ruffner Mountain Nature Center at approximately the 3.5 mile mark. The second station is situated at the start and finish area, marking the 6.4 mile point of the loop, primarily serving those completing multiple laps for the longer distances.

Participation and Registration

The event has a limited capacity and can accommodate a maximum of 200 runners. Registration closes on November 11th. Participants who register by October 1st are guaranteed an event shirt.
