Mardi Gras Madness at Bachman Lake Park
Mardi Gras Madness is a themed running event at Bachman Lake Park in Dallas with multiple distance options and festival elements tied to a Mardi Gras theme. The event includes participant shirts and finisher medals for all distances, a costume contest at the start line, on-course bead tosses, and music at the finish area.
Distances offered:
- Kids Dash - ~50 meters for ages 10 and under
- 1 Mile - open to all ages
- 5K - 3.11 miles, chip timed
- 10K - 6.22 miles, chip timed
- Volunteer then Run 5K - 3.11 miles
- Virtual Run - 6.22 miles
The Kids Dash is non-timed, includes a shirt and a special kids medal, and professional photos are offered. The 1 Mile includes a shirt and medal and is not chip timed. The 5K and 10K are chip timed and feature age group awards and overall awards. First overall male and female winners receive the Bigfoot Trophy; first masters 40+ receive a recognition pin. Age group awards cover 10 and under through 70 plus with 1st gold, 2nd silver, and 3rd bronze pins.
Packet pickup is offered 1.5 hours before the event; any additional pickup dates will be communicated by email at least one week prior. Courses are typically at parks and greenbelts and may include paved trails, crushed granite, or dirt. Volunteer roles include a Volunteer then Run option for the 5K and full race volunteer roles; volunteers check in at the Registration Tent and arrive 1.5 hours before the start.
