About the race
RiverSea Ultra is an 82 km coastal and riverside ultramarathon held on 13th November 2027. The course runs from Rakahuri to South New Brighton and stays within a few hundred metres of waterways such as rivers, lagoons, ocean and streams. Total course elevation is modest with about 45 m ascent and 140 m descent.
Terrain includes stop banks, single tracks, forest trails and hard-packed beaches, offering a mix of surfaces and river and ocean views. The event notes that the tide determines the start time, and participants may need to use dunes depending on incoming tides.
Entry options include solo and team formats. Solo covers the full 82 km. Team options:
- 2 person team Leg 1: 37.5 km, Leg 2: 44.5 km
- 3 person team Leg 1: 37.5 km, Leg 2: 24 km, Leg 3: 20.5 km
