River Bluff Trail Runs : St. Joseph, MO, December 19, 2026
River Bluff Trail Runs is an off-road running event held in St. Joseph, Missouri, organized by the local Pony Express Trail Runners. The start and finish are at the McArthur parking lot, 1599 Douglas McArthur Dr, and the course runs through Krug Park and River Bluff Trail Park along the bluffs next to the Missouri River.
Distances offered:
- 50k (two 15.5 mile loops)
- 25k (one 15.5 mile loop)
- 10k (short course option)
Each full loop is roughly 15.5 miles and has about 2000 feet of elevation gain, for approximately 4000 feet total on the 50k course. Trails are primarily smooth dirt with sections of roots, rocky areas, and crushed gravel, and portions run along steep bluffs. The course will be well marked. A map and a Strava link will be provided later.
Manned aid stations are placed at intervals of about every 4 miles and will offer water and snacks. Runners may leave a monitored drop bag at the start. Packet pickup is available early at Tubes bike shop, 1826 Frederick Ave, Saint Joseph, and also at the race start on event day. All distances receive a shirt; 50k and 25k finishers receive additional items.
This event takes place on multiuse trails shared with hikers and cyclists. Participants are responsible for their own safety, must stay on course, and should avoid littering.
