Rim to Rim Royal Gorge Races
The Rim to Rim Royal Gorge Races take place in the scenic landscapes near Canon City. The event offers a variety of distances on both road and trail surfaces, with courses that highlight the natural terrain of the local foothills and the landmark Royal Gorge Bridge.
Participants can choose from several event distances:
- Half Marathon Trail Run
- 8 Mile Trail Run
- 5K Road Run
- Kids Race
- Virtual Race
The 5K Road Run follows a route through the foothills and includes hills and a downhill section. Runners have the opportunity to cross the Royal Gorge Bridge before reaching the finish line. Walking is permitted on this course.
The 8 Mile Trail Run and Half Marathon Trail Run are both capped at 200 participants each. These courses utilize local trail networks such as Twisted Cistern and Made in the Shade, featuring rugged terrain, rolling hills, and various ascents and descents. In the event of extreme weather, trail portions may be replaced with a dirt road course to protect the trails.
A free youth event, known as the Dinosaur Dash, is available for children, with costumes encouraged and registration required. All race registrations include all-day access to the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park, covering standard amenities and rides. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
