About the race
RexRun For PAWSitivity is a community trail event at the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds in Aurora, Colorado that combines running, walking, family activities, and dog‑related programming to benefit Back the Blue K-9 Force.
The event offers multiple distances:
- 5K Trail Run
- 5K Family Trail Walk with dogs allowed on a six foot leash
- 1 mile Kids Run/Walk
Registered participants receive a commemorative T-shirt, a goody bag, a finisher medal, and a pancake breakfast. A food truck will serve breakfast for purchase to non-registered attendees. The day includes therapy and patrol K-9 demonstrations, a dog costume contest, silent and live auctions, and a Vendor Marketplace.
Family-oriented attractions are provided in a Kids Zone and include inflatables, lawn games, an obstacle course, face painting, and snow cones. Fundraising options are available for individuals and teams. For a fee, dogs can be made honorary K-9 deputies and receive an honorary badge and certificate.
Safety rules emphasize leash requirements and pet etiquette: dogs must be on a six foot leash, retractable leashes are not permitted, owners must clean up after their pets, and well‑behaved dogs may be allowed inside the event area. Awards are presented to the top three male and female runners. The trail format means conditions could change in heavy rain and alternative safety directions will be provided if needed.
