Rat Race 100 Ultramarathon

The Rat Race 100 is a mass participation run and trek covering 100 miles (160 km) over a continuous coastal and urban route. The event takes place 3 - 5 July 2027 and offers a 48 hour completion window. It is open entry with no qualifying times and a walker-friendly moving pace of 2.5 mph.

The route is fully waymarked with bright orange arrows and supported by event staff at key locations. The event is fully supported with bag transport, multiple drop bag options, a sweeper bus and a professional medical team staffed by paramedics and doctors. Spot kit checks are carried out and mandatory kit must be carried to continue. Participants must be 18 or over on the day of registration.

Pit Stops are provided along the course with water, snacks, toilets and medical cover; some Pit Stops offer enhanced hot food. Cut-offs apply after 60 miles and are set to reflect the 2.5 mph moving pace; designated sleep stations are available at selected Pit Stops with increased bag allowances. The event moves from coastal trail into more urban terrain as it approaches the finish and forms part of a three-event trilogy. Completing all three Rat Race 100 events earns a Trilogy finisher buckle. Registration and tracker collection are at Bamburgh Pavilion on the Friday before the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
